1/17/2024 0 Comments Casa marina key west reviewsThe common grounds, including the lobby were absolutely stunning (even more beautiful that the pictures) and the service throughout our stay was pretty fantastic. When we arrived at the hotel we were very impressed. We reserved a 1 bedroom oceanfront suite for two nights during spring break for myself, my husband and children, who are 16 and 13. Some members of the group we were traveling with chose to stay elsewhere. Key West offers many other choices of wonderful places to stay that are less expensive, beautifully maintained and also offer excellent swimming pools. For the cost of this room, per night, combined with the Waldorf Astoria name, my expectations were much higher, thus my disappointment. Non-working refrigerator and iron in room upon arrival. Stained and well worn door to the room was not a welcome sight. Overall the wooden furniture is showing signs of wear and should either be given a coat of scratch cover or replaced. Decorative wooden panel above the sink/vanity in the bathroom was stained, spotted and discolored in patches. Filthy vent of some sort in the bathroom. NO exhaust fan in the bathroom which leads to mold/mildew build up next to a wooden ceiling panel over the sink. A 350 square foot room jammed with a king bed, large armoire, medium sized dining table, couch/settee, 2 nightstands, floor lamp, casual chair, desk chair, desk and TV stand/dresser= too much furniture leaving too little room for guests. Size of the room combined with the amount and scale of furniture contained in that room. Nice sized guest room balcony overlooking a well-maintained beach. The pools, beach(es), bars, ballrooms, lobby and grounds all seem to be well maintained. The public areas of the facility are beautiful. From the front desk staff, to the bartenders, housekeepers, bellman and room service staff I found that almost everyone I interacted with was more than eager to assist. Recently stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in a king bed room with a balcony in the west wing. If I ever get the opportunity to come back to Key West I will probably not stay here again unless improvements are made. Except Trish who went above and beyond for me, my guests and my children. However, for the money they charge you per night, the hotel rooms need a major facelift and the hotel management needs an overhaul as well. Honestly, the grounds are beautiful and they do have a private beach which is really wonderful. In addition, I had dropped a glass by accident in my room which was eventually cleaned but not very well. All I asked for was a late check-out on Monday which was graciously granted. Trish was amazing though and apologized for the problem. Thankfully my brother performed magic on the iron and the dress and I was able to wear it that evening. He never showed up nor reached out to me that evening and anytime for the remainder of my stay. I called calmly but angry asking for the manager to come up to my room to discuss the matter. Thursday evening I went to iron my dress and it was so dirty as soon as I touched the iron to my dress it burnt a huge hole in it. It took four days until the smell subsided enough to be bearable. Plus something spoiled or fishy had apparently spilled by the elevators and the smell was horrendous. Though the room was spacious, the furniture was old and in need of repair. Thanks to Trish at the front desk this was rectified. So what’s to complain about? I had a grand ocean view room with a terrace - the first one given to me was right by the elevator and directly in front of the staircase. Thank-you really isn’t sufficient to express my gratitude to my new family. Anything that was under the direction of Julie and her team went amazingly well and was beautiful. However, this was all taken care of, selected by and paid for by the bride’s family. The fireworks and DJ on Friday night was also quite impressive and brought tears to my eyes. Great service - great food - special thanks and kudos to Julie and her staff and the vendors especially the band - Headliners - and all the amazing flowers, bouquets, chuppa design, hair stylists and make-up artists. The Friday night party on the beach and the actual wedding itself was amazing. I was the mother of the groom at a wedding held at the Casa Marina this past weekend.
